Unit 1 – Country profile

  • Maps

  • Short history

  • Demographic information relating to all units of study

Unit 2 – Population

  • Demographic transition

  • Population pyramid

  • Migration patterns – forced/voluntary, push/pull factors, etc.

Unit 3 - Culture

  • Folk and pop culture influences (housing, internet/TV, role of women, evidences of globalization)

  • Religion – origin and practices

  • Language – group/family (see language tree in textbook)

  • Ethnicity – major groups

Unit 4 - Political Organization of Space/Development

  • State? Nation-state?

  • Colonial history?

  • Shape – boundary types

  • Membership in International Organizations

  • HDI – discussion of indicators, gender differences

  • Self-sufficiency or international trade approach

  • Rostow Model

  • Core Periphery Model

Unit 5 – Agriculture

  • Origins

  • Subsistence or commercial farming

  • Von Thunen Model

  • Issues/crises (p. 358 – 364)

Unit 6 - Industry/Services

****Neatness, readability, and organization are important. All entries must be typed!!

****ALL BASIC REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BEFORE BONUS POINTS WILL BE REWARDED!!!
