Investigating Maquiladoras and NAFTA
Part I – Read both case studies in Chapter 11. (p. 366 & p. 393), also the
section on Latin America on p. 388. After reading answer the following:
What are the benefits of the maquiladoras system? What are the problems? Is it good or bad for the workers? What is NAFTA’s role?

Using the links from the Reviewing Concepts question and question #3 in Critical Thinking, further explore and gather information about the issues surrounding the maquiladoras system.
You may also want to do the Geo search on maquiladoras.
Part III – Using your findings, write an opinion essay backed up with solid information about one or more issues identified in the case studies from the textbook. Your essay should be 2 – 3 paragraphs. You will share these in class tomorrow.
