Remember to include this in your project!

This was part of the work we did from Unit 2 - Population

AIDS Investigation, Part II

How is AIDS affecting your adopted country?

Using information from the following websites investigate AIDS in your adopted country.

2004 Report on the Global Aids Epidemic, Chapter 2: "A Global Overview of the AIDS Epidemic"
www.unaids.org/bangkok2004/GAR2004_html/GAR2004_03_en.htm#TopOfPage

"Epidemiological Fact Sheets by Country" www.who.int/globalAtlas/predefinedreports/EFS2004/index.asp

Using the information from the reports above, develop an AIDS profile for your adopted country. You can format this profile any way you want to. This profile should be included in your adopted country notebook under the Population Unit.

  • Include a map, if available, showing the spread of the disease or any other visuals you can find.

  • Some questions you should try to answer are:

  • What is the occurrence of AIDS in the country?

  • Which population groups are most affected? (men, women, children?)

  • How is the disease most commonly spread?

  • What is being done to combat the disease and to prevent it’s spread?

Extra: You may want to list other infectious diseases that are ravaging your country.
